Lasik Eye Surgery

When is first follow up of Lasik?

Follow up is an essential component after lasik laser surgery, This is needed to check is all is fine and there are no complications.

It is also essential to advise future course of treatment. The doctor usually examines you at 24-48 hours after the procedure again. He will remove the eye shield, test your vision, and examine your eye.

You will be precribed several types of eye drops to prevent infection and inflammation. You may also be advised to use artificial tears to help lubricate the eye. Do not resume wearing a contact lens in the operated eye (may not be required anymore anyway).

Which Laser is Used in Lasik?

An excimer laser (193 nm wavelength) is used to remodel the corneal stroma after lifting a partial thickness corneal flap made by a microkeratome or femtosecond laser.

Excimer laser ablates tissue without causing damage to adjacent stroma in a finely controlled manner.
